Downed lines should immediately be reported\nto National Grid at <strong>1-800-867-5222<\/strong>\nor by calling 911.<\/li><li>Generators used to supply power during an outage\n<strong>must be operated outdoors to prevent the\nbuildup of deadly<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgridus.com\/Upstate-NY-Home\/Natural-Gas-Safety\/Carbon-Monoxide\">carbon monoxide<\/a><strong>.<\/strong> Before operating a generator, be sure to disconnect from National\nGrid\u2019s system by shutting off the main breaker, located in the electric service\npanel. Failure to do this could endanger our crews and your neighbors.<\/li><li>Customers who depend on electrically powered life\nsupport equipment, such as a respirator, should register as a life support\ncustomer by calling National Grid at 1-800-642-4272.
